Jon Carroll got it exactly right.

Another side effect of the Bush war drumbeat: It distracts us from his regressive domestic political agenda, an agenda that only makes sense if you're rich, and his social agenda, an agenda that only makes sense if you believe America should be a Christian nation, not a secular state.

more updates

Work continues to go well! I think the company's going to make it, where "make it" is defined as something less than going public, but something more than laying off 50% of the company just before being acquired for a discount off our last round of financing.

My brother is visiting me this week; he just moved to Long Beach from Colorado in an effort to find a job. He's much happier with himself now that he's out of Colorado; he'd really gotten stuck in a rut there. Time to change everything.

And this weekend, my girlfriend's going to help me clean out my living space. After six years in one place, I'm long overdue for a purge.

I also don't take the time to really explore the blogs that are out there.

Much of that is time-related. Some of it is just not caring.

Some of it is the interface; I miss the useful Usenet.

Event report: I went to Boston for the first part of the week for work; I'm going to El Paso this weekend to visit family. Tonight, I'm spending time with the girl.
