dying for mistakes

"How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

That's what John Kerry asked Congress in 1971 about Vietnam. Last night, Jim Lehrer turned it around and asked Kerry the same question about Iraq. Kerry flubbed it by saing Iraq wasn't a mistake.

What I think he should have said instead:

"You ask him to die not for the mistake, but to make things right again."
